Background and Site Information
Eustace Barnes is a Kent-based wildlife artist and tour guide leader. Eustace has guided tours to every region of South and Central America and has travelled widely elsewhere. A great interest in the Neotropics started from working as a resident naturalist at Explorer's Inn in the Peruvian Amazon.
Eustace, having been born into a family of artists, has been involved with art since childhood. Today he works on illustrating field guides and commissioned work.
The recently launched website covers both aspects of Eustace's work and includes many of examples his art along with detailed tour itineraries and trip reports.
The site was produced using a combination of fireworks and dreamweaver. Photoshop was used for manipulating the art work for use on the web. Due to the size and nature of the art work, many of the images were photographed with a high resolution digital camera as opposed to traditional scanning techniques. Where necessary, photoshop was used to adjust the colours, contrast and brightness. Generally, a very high standard was achieved.
In general, the tours section of the site is very heavy in terms of text. The aim was to make the information readily available to potential customers. As such, the itineraries and reports were broken down into categories and tabulated for ease of access. New reports can easily be added to the tables and all itineraries can be printed directly from the page.
In summary, I was responsible for the design and setting up of this site from the basic ideas stage through to its final completion. This involved numerous consultations with the client to ensure a high degree of customer satisfaction.
